1950 Regina High School reunion : There were plenty of hugs, laughs and even a few tears on June 3 as 13 members of the 1950 Regina High School class gathered at Salem Heights for a reunion. The ‘Regina Girls’ shared stories of their high school days and the spirit of the former all girls high school in Norwood, Ohio, came alive. Regina opened in 1928 and was operated by the Sisters of the Precious Blood until it closed in 1977. Photos by Dave Eck.

Service in Guatemala : In March 2012, 11 students from Mercy College of Northwest Ohio traveled to Antigua, Guatemala. Led by Precious Blood Sister Karen Elliott along with Susan Bernheisel, the students, who are enrolled in the school’s “Mission, Healthcare Ministry, and Enculturation” course, ministered to children with severe physical and/or mental disabilities who are patients at Santo Hermano Pedro, a long-term care facility. Egypt Dedication : On Aug. 28, 2011 several Sisters of the Precious Blood traveled to St. Joseph Cemetery in Egypt, Ohio, to dedicate a new marker commemorating the 46 Precious Blood Sisters buried there. The marker replaced individual gravestones that were beyond repair. The Missionaries and Sisters of the Precious Blood began their ministry in America in 1844 in Ohio. The Missionaries began ministering in the Egypt area in 1852 and by 1856 were staffing the already-established St. Joseph Parish. The Sisters arrived in 1856. Sister Noreen Jutte photos.

Glandorf Marker Dedication : In September 2011, Precious Blood Sisters dedicated a monument in St. John the Baptist Cemetery in Glandorf, Ohio, honoring the 78 Precious Blood Sisters buried there. These Sisters dedicated their lives in service to the German immigrants in Ohio. The Sisters’ remains were reinterred from their original convent cemeteries in Maria Camp and Glandorf to St. John the Baptist Cemetery in 1947. Photos by Sr. Noreen Jutte unless otherwise noted.

Mother Brunner Statue Carving : In September 2008, Hurricane Ike took down a cedar tree (among many others) in the cemetery at Salem Heights. Sister Eileen Tomlinson, CPPS, carved a Mother Brunner statue out of the tree. Sr. Eileen has Mother Brunner holding a bread basket, because of her tradition with bread; she presented the statue to the community for their 175th anniversary. Photos by Sr. Noreen Jutte, CPPS.
